Spring on BURG FÜRSTENECK – time to send you a few information.
European nyckelharpa Training (ENT)
For the European Nyckelharpa Training in Germany, we gladly could add an additional cooperation partner: The University for Music in Trossingen, Germany. Thus, the linkage to the academic world of music has become closer.
The training in Germany has now six teaching modules a year. Four of those at BURG FÜRSTENECK and two in Trossingen. The Academy BURG FÜRSTENECK continues the organizational leadership. Based on the experience of the Italian class, we have designed the participation a little more flexible. There is now the opportunity to participate only at selected training modules – depending on certain personal and organizational circumstances.
Early 2016, we were able to start a new German class of ENT with many highly motivated and eligible participants.
Are you interested in the ENT? Please register on my information list without obligation (evers@burg-fuersteneck.de). A new start will be possible any case in 2017, possibly even earlier. The workshop dates for 2017 are not fixed yet. We are working on that.

Nyckelharpa Workshop in Crete, Greece
Just today, I got a message from Greece: On the island of Crete there will be a nyckelharpa workshop with Eléonore Billy (France) from 8th to 13th August 2016. The focus is on Swedish music, especially Polskas.

Master Class Bertinoro, Italy
From 18th to 21th August 2016 for the third time there are five parallel masterclasses for Early Music, organized in cooperation of three European universities: Fondazione Alma Mater, Bologna (Italy), Music and Arts Private University of Vienna (Austria) and State University of Music Trossingen (Germany). The courses take place at Centro Residenziale Universitario di Bertinoro under the artistic direction of Marco Ambrosini, who also directs the course for early music on the nyckelharpa. Bertinoro is a picturesque mountain village in the Emilia Romagna between Bologna and Ravenna, and even without a workshop definitely worth a visit.
On Saturday, 20 August 2016 is a final concert at the Cathedral of Bertinoro.

Harpas at Halsway - Nyckelharpa Festival, Great Britain
2nd to 4th September 2016 in the South West of England for the fifth time a nyckelharpa Festival will happen in the National Centre for Folk Arts at Halsway Manor. Three workshops with Vicki Swan (UK), Magnus Holmström (Sweden) and Johannes Mayr (Germany) are offered.

International Days of the Nyckelharpa on BURG FÜRSTENECK, Germany
The 13th International Days of the Nyckelharpa take place from 6th to 9th October 2016 on BURG FÜRSTENECK in D-36132 Eiterfeld, Germany. We offer seven parallel workshops on different levels and subjects with Ana Alcaide (Spain), Marco Ambrosini (Italy / Germany), Jule Bauer (Germany), David Eriksson (Sweden), Didier François (Belgium), Magnus Holmström (Sweden), and Annette Osann (France / Germany). Additional short workshops, nyckelharpa exhibition with many instrument makers, nyckelharpa conference, informal exchanges and play together. We expect 70 to 80 nyckelharpa player from many nations. Early booking is recommended, as all accommodations at the castle were booked in the last years.
On Saturday, 8th October 2016 a public concert of the teacher (and possibly other players) takes place.

Bordunale 2017 BURG FÜRSTENECK, Germany
From 1st to 4th January 2017, the Fürstenecker Bordunale takes place again, inter alia, with a nyckelharpa workshop with Annette Osann (France / Germany) and an ensemble workshop for Swedish music with Josefina Paulson (Sweden). The advertisement for 2017 is still in progress.

One-Year Nyckelharpa and Fiddle Course at Eric Sahlström Institute, Tobo, Sweden
From 24th August 2016 until 30th May 2017 (with a small Christmas break) the long-term training at Eric Sahlström Institute in Tobo is offered. Tobo is located in the region of Uppland, the Swedish home of the nyckelharpa. The Eric Sahlström Institute is the Swedish National Centre for Folk music and dance – and a first address when it comes to Swedish music.
In addition to the one-year course, there are also distance courses and summer courses.
The traditional two-year course for nyckelharpa making just takes break. Esbjörn Hogmark focuses on his book on the construction of Nyckelharpas. We hope for a restart in 2017, then with workshops and tutorial book ;-)
